Children's Festival FAQ's
When is the Children's Festival?
Children's Festival is Saturday, June 16, 2018 from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.
How much does it cost to attend the Children's Festival?
All of the activities are free. There is also free admission to the Danville Science Center. There is a cost to vendor and concession items.
What should I expect that day?
The whole family should expect to have a great time exploring all of the new and exciting activities that the Children's Festival has to offer!
What should my kids wear to the Children's Festival?
Children should come dressed in play clothes that can get dirty. The Splash Zone will return this year with a water slide, the Fun Wagon and sand. The North Carolina Zoo will be there with mud and other activities as well. No flip flops are allowed.
How long will it take to participate in all the activities?
Families can easily spend all day at the festival participating in all of the activities available.
What time should I arrive?
The festival is in the summer, so the earlier you arrive the cooler it will be. The festival gates open at 10 a.m. Also, the earlier you arrive, the more time you will have to enjoy all of the activities.
What types of activities are there for children 8 and up?
Children 10 and up can participate in all of the activities. Some that may interest them most are the dinosaurs, outdoor laser tag, tubing trips on the river, bubble balls, the water slide, the STEM Innovation Bus and more!
Can we bring in food and drinks?
Outside food is not allowed. There are food vendors on site. Special food for infants and toddlers is allowed. Bottled water is allowed as well. Food vendors will be announced soon.
Can we bring pets?
Danville Parks and Recreation follows the ADA guidelines on service animals. The ADA classifies a service dog as a service animal that has been individually trained to do work or perform tasks for the benefit of an individual with a disability.
Where is this event held?
This is an outside event at the Carrington Pavilion.
What happens if it rains?
This event will be held rain or shine. In cases of severe weather, notices will be made on Facebook. Some activities will not be available in cases of severe rain.
Do you have an ATM on site?
There is an ATM outside of the gates in the parking lot.
Can my child bring their bike?
Bicycles are not allowed inside the festival. Feel free to bring bikes to ride on the RiverWalk trail after attending the festival. Strollers are allowed at the festival.
Where can I park?
There is parking available behind the Community Market, at Newton's Landing, and the parking garage on Bridge St.
Where are the bathrooms?
Bathrooms are located in the bottom of the Pepsi Building, near the main gate.
How do I become an arts and craft or commercial vendor?
Vendor applications can be found on the website or here.
