Healthy Lifestyle Research Study
Motivated families are needed to join a healthy lifestyle research study. Children between the ages of eight to twelve and a BMI percentile that is 85 or higher will be eligible. The study will give you and your family tools to live your healthiest lives. Qualifying health screening will take place at the end of February until the first of April. Bike for Life
In partnership with Danville Church Based Tutorial Program, monthly bike clubs will take place at: Woodside Village, Cardinal Village, Stonewall Recreation Center, and Cedar Terrace. The bike clubs encourage physical activity in children and will touch on topics such as bike safety, biking laws, fitting helmets, and basic bike maintenance. Participate in a neighborhood fitness program right outside of your home with up and coming fitness professionals. Each week Averett University personal fitness students and SNAP-Ed Program Assistant from Virginia Cooperative Extension will be leading fitness activities and nutrition lessons at Ingram Heights, Pleasant View, and Cardinal Village. Participants will walk away from each 30-minute class with healthy tips on how to stay active, knowing calories burned, weight, and number of steps.
